Meet mr. zhang…

I was going to wait until we had the full report from my searcher, but it seems likely enough that I am confident to share this update of the search process. In my last post on this, I shared that my searcher had found a reporter to run a story about my search in a big local paper and online. The audio on this animation, is the voice memo from my searcher from March 26. Within 36 hours of the story being published my searcher was contacted by a few people. One of whom, turned out to be the gentleman who originally found me on the road on August 28, 1993, the day it was determined I was also born. …

Meet Mr. Zhang, he is now 85 years old and at the time was 60. He was working in the Security Department of Anhui Institute of Technology at the time and was reporting to work around 8am in the morning. He said that a baby girl was wrapped by a blanket and [there was] no paper note but there [was] a bottle of fresh milk. He took me to a police station where they told him to bring me to the orphanage. It sounds like he took me to a branch of the orphanage that was also a home for the elderly where it’s possible I may have stayed before going to the main orphanage. …

There isn’t exactly a way to fully confirm to an exact T and confirm this is 1000% my finder but what we know of his account and the timing of his and the story we knew about my coming to the orphanage align enough for us to feel sure it is him. It’s still so surreal to me that so quickly we were able to find someone who is a part of my story. I think I am still processing the emotional side of what these new details mean, for instance I’m not ready to say I feel comforted by the fact that there was a blanket and possibly a bottle of milk but its definitely a new layer to my story to consider. Please don’t share this without asking first, but this is the latest piece of the puzzle of me finding my full story.
